As a child, he was rarely seen without a toy car in his hand. He loved watching mechanics at work and developed an encyclopaedic knowledge of makes and models from a young age. Every birthday felt like another step towards the one that mattered most: turning 17 and finally being able to drive.

Different jobs. A shared understanding of people.

Joe’s career has taken him from food and beverage work at Holiday Inn to call centres, delivery driving and seven years at Dyson. Most recently, he worked as a Digital Transformation Manager across Singapore, China, Malaysia, the Philippines and the UK. Those experiences gave him a broad cultural perspective and a lasting enjoyment of working with people from all backgrounds.

Making the car trade more transparent.

Joe’s motivation for building TJ Motors grew from his experiences of the car trade in London and across the UK. He was frustrated by a lack of transparency: dealers selling faulty cars, mechanics overcharging for repairs and owners left feeling helpless, even though a car is an essential part of everyday life for so many people. He wanted to change that. At TJ Motors, his aim is for every customer to understand what they are buying, what work has been done and what they are paying for.

Importing carefully selected cars from Singapore gives Joe the opportunity to put that belief into practice. Competitive sourcing costs create room for thorough inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs and careful cosmetic preparation, while still offering strong value to buyers in the UK and Ireland. The aim is simple: cars presented in exceptional condition, with the work done upfront to help minimise avoidable problems down the road.

The most satisfying part is seeing dealers and their customers enjoy the cars TJ Motors supplies. Across more than 300 cars supplied to date, only one has been returned with an issue, and the team dealt with it promptly. Taking responsibility when something needs attention is part of the service Joe wants the company to be known for.

With his grandmothers’ names above the door, that commitment will always be personal.
